The highest elevation in Schrattenthal is the Innere Bergen vineyard. Here, the slopes are steeper and the soils are barren and stony. This top location lies between 270 and 300 meters above sea level and faces south. The subsoil consists of granite with a very thin layer of humus. Grüner Veltliner really comes into its own on this primary rock site.
